Iran’s Portion of Saffron Global Market is 20 Percent

Member of saffron national council said: 90 percent of the whole world saffron produce in Iran. But our portion from target markets is very insignificant comparing with countries with limited production.

Market Service- Ali Hosseini member of saffron national council by referring to this issue that the portion of Iran as the largest saffron producer of the target markets is just 20 percent, stated: due to this fact that 90 percent of the whole world saffron produce in Iran, our portion from target markets is very insignificant comparing with countries with limited production.

Tejarat News reported: he referred that Iranian saffron production will reach to 500 Tons in recent future and added: but this requires market development and entering new markets.

Hosseini said: entering the Rural Cooperative Organization to the manufacturing sector is temporary and said this matter will destroy agriculture in near future.

Member of saffron national council continued: The largest saffron producer should possess 50 percent of global markets and now 20 percent portion of Iran considered as a weakness.

He believed creating the Global Stock Exchange is just a slogan and added: entering to Global Stock Exchange does need necessary infrastructures, because keeping saffron in Stock Exchange warehouses for a long time will lead to loss of this product’s quality.
